Melanie is passionate about digital textile design and the potential it has for the learner to design and produce their own cloth.

Her workshops combine playful handmade, DIY and digital processes, mixing traditional and modern techniques to create digital design which are digitally printed using the latest technology on a wide range of fabrics.

She collaborates with Dr Emma Neuberg to run pioneering workshops The People’s Print which encourages participatory and methods of co-design.

Her teaching methods and approach are be supported by an underlying structure of ‘fast’ and ‘slow’ paces and processes addressing lifecycles, meaning, metabolism and sustainable textile theories.

Melanie gives presentations on Digital Textile Design and its impact on the fashion industry, consumer and environment.
